Hi,

Today I brought Rayleigh Terrain 10 bike.

The bike shown to me has no front disc brake, but when I did casual search on google on the shop itself the image of the bike was having front disc brake.

Upon asking the shopkeeper, he said it was an old model in which the disc brake used to come. Now the company replaced the disc brake with superior quality gears shifter (Shimano Altus)

Please help.Is it true ??

Thanks in advance

You could try emailing Raleigh HERE with the serial number. They may be able to confirm the spec of the bike when it was assembled.

FYI - discs are newer than rim brakes so I can't imagine a manufacturer moving a model over to discs and then moving it back to older style brakes.

I don't see any Terrain 10 models on the Raleigh website, the only off road models with disc brakes are the Talus and Misceo.
There is a Terrain 10 on the Evans website, but it doesn't have disc brakes.
Some confusion possibly?

A google would appear there are two versions. The 2011 model was v brakes and the newer model swapped to disks and changed the colour to black and blue.

The terrains 05 remained white and red with disks.

It all depends whether you bought it at full retail or discount?

It's an old model and a quite basic bike. This was the non-disc one being sold by Evans in 2011 although I'm aware someone's still selling it at £260:

This is the 2014 version, with disc brakes - and is about £300 but I can't see it for sale in the UK. I'm presuming you're outside the UK, possibly in India?

Have you been cheated? No. You bought the bike but there are always newer models coming along.
