I have a 1970s Italian ALAN road frame - the first all aluminium design. It needs two of the tubes replaced following an accident. ALAN are still in business in Italy but say they cannot repair it. Does anyone have any suggestions about a frame repairer in the UK ? All suggestions gratefully received.

aluminium needs to be properly welded, unlike steel where you can have lugs which allow the tubing to be replaced (by a specialist of course). ifaik there is no way to unweld the joins of aluminium tubing without doing terminal damage to the tubes.

sorry to bear further bad news, but the frame sounds dead to me…

Hi there. If you didnt manage to get your Alan frame fixed then would you consider selling the damaged frame to me so i can remove... sorry ..recycle.. the rear brake hanger. This part IS fully removable from the frame via 2 side bolts in the down tubes. I would be willing to pay upto £35 for a damaged beyond repair - ALAN frame for this part. MAny thanks
