I've got a seat post pack mid size which I'd like to fit to my bike which has a fas carbon seatpost.

Is this safe? It won't be heavily loaded. A jacket and a sandwich! I'm thinking it should be bot I know that some people are hesitant about carbon posts.

I'm not really interested in what the manufacturers say. More interested in what people have actually done and has worked.

Carbon fibre is used on aircraft that weigh as much as a small planet. It is used on race cars that pump put 750BHP and accelerate from 0-200 and brake back down to 0 again in less than 20 seconds.

It is not going to cower in the corner at the sight of your rain jacket and cheese sarnies..

Think what will happen if you eat your sandwich and put on your rain jacket. You will become heavier and put the same load on the seatpost.

But if you've put the rain jacket on because it's raining the carbon fibre seat post will dissolve anyway. ;)

Be more worried about the pack fretting and wearing away the lacquer on the post. Wrap it in vinyl tape wherever it could get damaged.
