Do you mean Al frames? Alloy or steel - don't think I've seen Al forks - certainly wouldn't want to ride them.

Steel is an alloy...;)

Forks may be steel or aluminium alloys of various grades, depending on price and application.
As ever, the formula is "cheap/strong/light - pick any two".

I had alu forks on my first road bike. Bloody awful ride quality. Alu is far too stiff for a fork. Steel or carbon, always.

I've got some polished Alloy forks on my steel framed massi . They look great and are very light , much lighter than even 753 steel forks but god are they harsh to ride. You feel every bump.
I'll be changing back to steel or maybe carbon soon .;)

I just keep the front tyre not quite rock hard and that seems to take up the bumps OK. To be honest I have only had aluminium forks on the two bikes I have had in recent years so cant make a like for like comparison.
Given the trend is to go from Aluminium to carbon then I can assume there is some benefit from this (in ride quality). But you dont miss what you never had!
