i use a cree as my main light on my bike, they are powerful and if you aim it too high you will get flashed by irate drivers coming from the opposite direction.

Anyone ever purchased one in the past and what are they like?
I have a couple of the previous ones. The zoom bit can rattle a little, also the batteries inside pick up the road buzz but you can sheathe them with tape, paper, rubber band, etc and cut that out. The diffuser part is new. I've found that with one on a wide focus and the other on a narrower one you can get pretty good lighting for poorly lit roads - not dead of winter rural nights, though. 7day shop sell handlebar mounts for about £3. I've dropped them in the road in the past and gone back and found them completely undamaged and I once hit an oncoming car full on, went over the bonnet, the light hit the front of the bonnet as the bike tipped me off. Again undamaged. Apart from a rather nasty dent in the car bonnet, that is. Worth a punt, I'd say. Some people have used slightly longer casings with a more powerful battery but I just use 3xAAA rechargeables without issues.
