So, finally getting around to going clipless. Not wanting to spend a lot initially, so I'm hopefully going to get the Aldi shoes this Thursday.

I have noticed on the website there are two types/styles of shoe. I'm drawn towards the brown/laced one, as it looks like more of a "normal" shoe, but I don't want to sacrifice foot retention - Is the three velco strap shoe any better than the single strap and laces?

Thoughts? Thanks!

I don't know, but the three-strap ones have served me well for the past year! In fact, I'm going to buy a fresh pair on Thursday.

Velcro straps are a bit more convenient than laces. Your feet can swell a little while cycling - with velcro it is easy to loosen a strap without stopping whereas with laces you'll have to get off the bike to adjust the fit.

Merino long sleeved top looks pretty good for £14.99..bought some merino socks this year and they're great, never knew toes could feel so snug!

i'd be voting for laces - if they break or wear, you can always fit in a new pair wherease once the velcro wears out, you are stuffed. velcro is quicker to do/undo but it is noit a significasnt amount of time over the laced boots.

make sure you try them on - you may need to go one size bigger, certainly is the case with Shimano - and even then they are a tight fight, whcih is what you want for cycling, then do not need to be as comfortable a fit as for walking shoes/boots.

Problem with the laces is that they are quite long so you have to secure them under the single velcro strap to avoid any accidents, if I where to buy another pair I would go for the Velcro 3 strap.
