Aldi...........pahhhh

Our Aldi seems to be full of branded name knock-offs at lower prices than the proper stuff in the Supermarkets but at the same price as the genuine articles in Home Bargains and B&M etc etc.

I reckon our 2 bargain shops do 4 times the trade of Aldi.

Was a big supermarket shopper with either Tesco or Asda but since using Aldi I have saved a fair bit of cash. The quality is better in some cases especially the fruit and veg, personally Tesco just got too big for their boots with all the buy 3 for 2 etc. So if you wanted just one item you had to pay alot more. Asda has gone the same way in similar fashion except its a quid for this a quid for that, makes it sound super cheap but in the end its not. I now only go to ASDA or Tesco for milk and anything I need urgently. Go to Costco and bulk buy my meat ( defo cheaper ) and the main shop is once a week at Aldi, quality is on a par with everywhere else. Of course if your a brand snob then I`m fine with that your money not mine!

I shop in the village butchers, green grocers and occasionally online order from asda for quorn stuff or washing powder/bog roll. Now carless so makes it easier and is nicer to buy local in the village

I don't do supermarkets. I leave it to my good lady wife. She uses Waitrose & Tesco's.
All our fresh veg and fruit we get from our local shop.

I really cant wait for our new store to be finished, OK its a bit more expensive to shop there, but absolutely no food gets wasted, not like now, we must chuck a tenner away each week in wasted food, so really will be cheaper in the long run
Rarely waste food these days since we started making a monthly food menu . Its a pain so men months but you know what you need and shop for it.

I tend to shop around.... Tesco and Morrisons are OK for beer and milk, I always buy my meat from the local butcher and never from a supermarket, veg i try to get from the street market which is open two days a week... it sells better veg than a supermarket and for far less. Every now and then I'll pop down to Aldi (it's a bike ride rather than a walk away) and grab some frickadillas and other bits and bobs they don't sell in 'normal' shops... but now I'm off to M&S so see if they've got any bargain blocks of cheese in

Within a 1 mile radius I have a mega Morrisons, Asda & Sainsbury's, along with an Aldi, a local Tesco, a local Asda and 3 Nisa's. The mega Tesco is about 1.5miles.

Sainsbury's is a nice place to shop, I go there. They make an effort with the lighting, the ambience is calm and the staff uniforms smart.
Aldi is the next best place, it gets the overspill custom from Sainsbury's. I like it, different produce & packaging to entertain me.
Might go to Asda now and again but it's grubby in comparison and the staff all wear hi-viz (or looks like).
Morrisons is the store from hell, it has more stock, in muck, under the shelves than on it. It's dominated by banal own brand packing and gives a wholly dispiriting experience, no wonder they are struggling.

Sometimes I'll cycle to Booths in Ilkley and pretend that I am posh.

Supermarkets are all much the same, though Aldi does decent wine at low prices. We stick to local shops for all our fresh food - much nicer, and cheaper too.
