Hi everyone just to give you the heads up on Aldi's new pro cycling gear on sale the 21st November. It ranges from socks at £3.99 to pro cycling jackets @ £29.99 it's new in for this year so might be worth a look. :bicycle:

Was in the Selsdon (south London) Aldi today. And they were bringing out a few metal cages of jackets, overshoes, trousers etc. Getting rid of old stock I guess. But there was quite a lot of it.

I went to some effort to get to my nearest Aldi this morning, and was rather cheesed off to find that all the clothes are for men :-(. Except for the socks I suppose. I guess they can do what they want but it's a bit unimpressive.

Yes, was surprised by this too.
Usually well stocked in womens gear, this is a one off I think, maybe they think you girls are not that serious about 'performance'?

I bought a jacket and a pair of bibs. Decided to wear them back from the office, so left the Gore and Biemme there.
First impressions, the fit on the jacket is good but it is a spring/autumn top there are no windproof panels. At just over freezing when I left the office it was not quite warm enough with a Merino base layer. I would put it at a little warmer than a roubaix winter jersey but not anywhere near as warm as a proper softshell like my Gore Oxygen. Lots of refelectives on it and long arms though.
The bib tights fitted fine and were relatively warm with windproof panels. I am quite skinny but tall and found the crotch area to be a little bit loose. I was also disappointed by the pad which looks good but after about 5 miles I started to notice was not that thick. Probably on a par with cheap decathlon bibs and not as good as their midrange. My Biemme biblongs pad is in a different league.
Conclusion, better fit than the normal Aldi stuff, I will use it, it isn't high end quality though.

I'm using the bibs with shorts under as I found the pad not snug enough, especially with my dodgy undercarriage. Quite happy with them as winter longs due to the wind proof panel. Will serve as an additional pair to my Biemme winter ones. The wind proof panel is much stiffer fabric, but that's to be expected, it's the same on my more expensive Biemme.

The shirt is fine and is an autumn and spring one. Managed fine today in about 4-5c, but much colder and I'd want more wind proofing that their own soft shells provide. The shirt just has a windproof front, but Lycra arms, no wind proofing there.

This stuff is race fit, ie no flappy bits. Their other stuff has more give. Aldi are trying out this new range, which is great for us Lycra louts.

Loads left in my local store, despite there being many road and MTB cyclists in and around the village.

Bought the vest and pants base layer, haven't worn it in anger but seems to fit ok. Lots of funny technical looking panels which I'm concerned might be a bit cargo cult, but we shall see. Also noticed the Aldi in town has a specialbuy discount outlet store next door, so some even bigger bargains to be had.

Holy thread resurrection, but just bought one of the Pro cycling Jackets, they were reduced to £19.99, seemed a good buy at that price, might go back up for another as they had one Large left. Plenty other stuff left all reduced but not large on size. I hope they continue with this style of clothing as don`t particularly like the baggy normal fit stuff.

When the wife came back and said she was bearing gifts from Aldi cyung wear I must admit I wasn't having great thoughts ...
But out the bag the long jersey & winter jersey/ jacket looked good .. Fitted perfectly the sizes she got and the price I had to confirm with her twice .. Lol ... Used them both on many occasions mtb & road and very happy if I'm honest :-)
