Just bought new bike stand from Aldi (£29-99). Seems ok, wobbles a little, but wont be doing any heavy maintenance just clean, lube, new cables etc. If any heavy leverage is needed I'll just lift it down, do the required task and lift it back. I know that seems to defeat the purpose but it's no real effort. Cant afford a Park Tool or similar so I'll see how this stands up. just wondering if any of you guys have any experience of Aldi stands.

Was considering getting one (from Aldi). I just hate having to prop my bike up all the time.

I bought one too at the weekend. It's still in the box as I've had too much to do elsewhere but they're supposed to be decent bits of kit for 30 squid.

Bought and used mine today to clean the bike. It is surprising sturdy! I was expecting it to wobble a hell of a lot more but nothing really. As long as the legs are fully stretched, the feet are at correct angles and the bike can balance before the clamp being tightened it is spot on!

I help run a community bike maintenance project and we have 8 Lidl stands. Same thing. They take a battering and it doesn't matter so much if they break for £30 each. The biggest issue is the adjustable handles have awful nut inserts that the threads strip on, but if and when they go, we replace them with seat tube quick releases.

Heavy spannering does really need the bike on the ground - e.g BB. Stands are dead handy for the minor stuff - cleaning and lubing chains being the most common use.

I got one very similar to the Aldi one from Amazon for my birthday. Same price. Mine has a cam QR lever on the bike holder though, which looks easier to operate than the wheel nut on the Aldi one. .. otherwise the same. Seems fine for what I need it to do !

Thanks for that info.
I thought I was the only one who watched their bike slide down when doing a job on it!!

I've done one or two small jobs on the stand now and it seems ok. There seems to be no way it would tipple as it is well supported with the legs out and secured. The only down side I have found is it tends to swivel from port to starboard as opposed to fore & aft (if you get my drift).Other than that I would recommend it if you are looking for a no frills cheap work stand which makes working on your bike so much easier, and( dare I say) more enjoyable. Happy days.
