I recently picked up a second hand set of aksium discs for a good price, they're 2017 model (I think) with for centrelock discs and overall I'm very very happy with them. I think the original owner used them for cyclocross or a dirty winter commute though. Yesterday, whilst cycling home from work into a headwind, the front hub started singing to me. I thought it was wind noise to begin with, since when I was up out of the saddle, and the bike was rocking it would stop. Anyhow today, I've had a bit of a fettle, and I think I need to do something bearingy with them. They spin freely enough, but there's definitely roughness to the bearings...so, after much head scratching, I got to the bearing on the non disc side, and cleaned it up and regreased, but I'm buggered if I can work out how to get to the bearing on the disc side. Also, I'm thinking I may as well replace the bearings, since there was that much crap in the one that I could see. I've trawled the interweb and this forum. I have downloaded the mavic service manual, but other than an exploded diagram, there's no idiots guide to disassembling the hub.
Can anyone point me to a guide, a video or just a set of instructions. As I said, I worked out how to get to the bearing on one side, and I'm reasonably sure that the hub's not about to fail, but I'd like to be able to service the whole thing. I know aksiums are cheap, but I'd rather service than replace.
