I wish I could switch it off on the big search engines. Not interested, don't want anything to do with it, but it's being thrust upon me.

But the rate at which it is changing is pretty alarming. Not so long ago all that AI was capable of was generating hilariously inept parodies of normal writing. Now it's entirely plausible, if frequently utterly wrong.

But... the AI that is being 'pushed' by the mega-corps is hardly Artificial Intelligence.

More marketing codswallop to persuade the gullible to spend more on gadgets or engage with their 'platform'.

Indeed. They're nothing more than large language models, able to process and assimilate immense amounts of data verymquickly and thus mimic intelligence, but they are not intelligent. Merely very fast.

Now it's entirely plausible, if frequently utterly wrong.

This is what I feared - AI is about to enter politics!

Recently I've been using a bit of Microsoft AI that writes meeting summaries based on voice recognition transcripts. It's scarily good. There's fluff and wrongness that needs sense checking in there for sure but it captures what's needed.

There was a genuine incident where a law firm had used an AI app to look up legal precedents. It came up with a great list. Trouble was, when they got to court, it emerged that the AI had simply made them all up. The judge naturally went ballistic with them and the lawyers responsible were very close to getting struck off.

First reply from an alternate AI to yours.

Keeley Hawes is starring in a new period drama called "Miss Austen," which is based on the novel by Gill Hornby.1While it's not a direct adaptation of a Jane Austen novel, it focuses on the life of Jane Austen's sister, Cassandra, and explores their relationship.
