Affordable hydraulic road disc brakes - how much longer?

I've got my eye on a Kinesis Tripster ATR ti as a possible candidate for an all-purpose winter bike. I would want to build it up with hydraulic discs; SRAM have theirs in the market but they're horribly expensive and I don't get on with SRAM gear shifting.

I've checked with Hope and they say they have nothing planned so how much longer before Shimano bring out an affordable brake? Why are they taking so long over it? Is anybody "in the know" over this?

Cos there is no need for them ;)

only IMHO of course :becool:

The bike industry has foisted all kinds of unnecessary new stuff on us suckers, 29" mountain bikes for example, so I'm sure Shimano are rubbing their hands with glee at the possibility of selling a more value-added brake system.
