I'm looking to change my tyres on my Specialized Secteur comp from black to red to match the bike. I have come across Scwalbe Ultremo ZX tyres and just wondered does anybody have any experience of these, good or bad.

They are good tyres, but race tyres. Not quite the best for commuting, but if you've picked them up cheap, then fine.

PS Michelin Lithion 2 and Krylions come in red and are a little cheaper, and better suited to commuting. I use red Lithion 2's.

PS they won't stay red for long unless you are keen on cleaning them. Side walls will need Mr Sheen to remove the black brake/rim gunge from wet rides.

I've had Ultremos in the past and although fast and grippy they wore down quickly and got chewed up on poor road surfaces. I've heard that these ZX ones are made to be more hard wearing.
That said i like the touches of colour on the tyre for that bling look

Thanks guys. I wouldn't be commuting with them but nor would I be racing either. I am probably best described as a leisure rider and like fww said it's for the look.

On specialized all weather 25c now. Would I notice much of a difference going from 25c to 23c? More confused than ever.:pump:

I've just fitted Ultremo ZX tyres to my summer bike but I've not had the chance to try them out yet. They were £20 each in a sale and because they are light I thought I'd get them. Probably wont be trying them until the Cheshire Cat in March.:hello:

Hi 2wd

after much deliberation I think I'll be going for GP 4000s 25c. If you drop me a PM as to how much you want for them and they are reasonable I may buy both. Are they all red or red stripe? Why are you selling them if they are so good? Never could make a decision:wacko:

Hi Lavoisier

I love the performance of these tyres and they look superb on the bike

Im only changing them as the roads round here are really bad so I've put some tougher tyres on to cope with the pot holes

They are all red with white "Ultremo ZX" written on them

I'll get some photos up soon
