I know this sounds nuts - but Aerobars on my turbo. - are brilliant.
I aquired a set of aerobars cheep (good old ebay) and was going to put them on my road bike when my mate pointed out - whats the point you don't go fast enough - cruel - but true.
so I stuck em on my turbo.
well appart from the aerodynamic advantage they put you in a real attack position. get your bum off the seat and makes you really dance on the pedals.(as good old lance puts it)

I've got aero bars on the bike I use indoors, just to get used to "the position" for the summer. As Licramite says, they're grand with the bike clamped in the turbo, but much more "entertaining" with the bike on the rollers. :hyper:

I find by putting my weight on my elbows and shoulders (anchoring in place with my hands on the aeros) and using the tip of the seat as a fulcrum it really releases the legs into a much easier position to spin.
I think its instead of pedaling with your knees coming up in front of your body your more pedaling with your knees coming up more inline with your body if that make sense.

To clarify before I type any more, are you just riding on the nose of the saddle or actually out of the saddle?

I think I'll otfen be sticking aerobars on the bike when I use it for turbo'ing.

- get used to the position

- (for the hybrid bike which the wife is likely to use) more like a road bike position

You won't understand if you are the kind of person that puts the fan behind yourself to generate a tail wind.
He probably wears a helmet too

When riding a TT bike with aerobars, does one lift bum off saddle every five pedal strokes or seven pedal strokes?

on the aeros my bums on the nose of the saddle

hmm a good point with the aerodynamic advantage maybe I should put the fan infront as I will have lost the tailwind bonus in that position.
