After years of exclusively using specialized's highly regarded S-Works Prevail which I found to be light and comfortable. I have recently purchased Specialized's new aero helmet the S-Works Evade.
Here a picture showing the comparable dimensions of the evade compared to the privail.
The evade features a Kevlar-reinforced Inner Matrix to trim some weight and dial up the crush dynamic. The helmet also featues dual density EPS foam. It’s worth noting that unlike many helmet designers, Specialized does their own expensive verification tests for stately. The CPSC, SNELL B90A, CE and AS/NZS safety standard tests were all passed without issue.
On the head the Evade sits slightly lower compared to the Prevail. Both helmets offer a high level of adjustability and they are shipped with additional pads for comfort should you require them. Based on appearence alone you would think that the Evade was not well vented compared to the Privail and other helmets, however this is not the case. Specialized claim a lot of work has gone into the ventilation of the Evade, I have no idea if this is the case but the helmet most certainly feels as we'll vented as any helmet I have ever worn.
Specialized claim this helmet provides measurable gains based on its aero, I have no idea if it does but one noticeable trait is the wind noise around the ears has reduced over the prevail. I'm not aware if this is aero related but it makes sense.
All in all a great looking helmet, which is exceptionally comfortable and meets and exceeds the highest standard. If your on the market for a great helmet you can't go wrong with an evade or privail.. £160 is what they both retail for.
I'm happy owning both
