Last year I did one 10 mile Time Trial and really enjoyed it, even though I wasn't the best

I fancy doing some more next year for a craic. I'd like to get some cheapish aero bars that I can clip on just for these events. I ride a Secteur (well known TT Bike ) Any suggestions?

Profile design century bars are one of the cheapest at about £45 - they are OK.

Profile Design T2s are a step up at about £90 and are much lighter, have better arm rests and look the part.

I doubt you would want to consider anything even more expensive than these two!?

The 1st are more aimed at tourers to my recollection, not so much TT'ing, although they will do fine for a starter I guess, but not very adjustable and dont let you get very low.

I have the T2+'s paired with the profile aero wing base bar, Ive been using them for a year now, they are not bad, fairly light and adjustable etc. I do have a couple of dissapointing points of feedback though.

1) The arm rest is made from cheap plastic. I've had both replaced on warranty so far from them snapping (they were not ever over tightened and I wasnt riding them with my hands on them like riding on the tops as someone once tried to tell me I must have done for them to snap), both snapped in exactly the same place during normal riding, not even race condition honking. Both breaking in exactly the same place is a sign of poor design in my opinion.

2) The underside of the arm rest pads are not very durable, they are tearing in a couple of places and they are also not exactly perfectly fitting! I dont use them that much, so I'd have expected better.

Or maybe I just got unlucky!

Once you buy your aero bars, getting a good fit and possition might not be as easy as clipping them on and away you go. You will be slamming the seat fully forward to get yourself over the BB and to open up your hip angle and you will be riding on the nose of the saddle (as a result the seat will have to go up to accomodate this), so your cockpit will become shorter and possibly steaper, you may need a longer or shorter stem, and to adjust handlebar height in order to preserve power output whilst gaining aero advantage.

That's the kind of negotiating I like!

How do you want paying?
