Hello everyone,

i'm moving house and tucked away in the corner of my loft i found my Bob Jackson Racer circa about 1983. It has reynolds 531 frame and campagnolo gears. Ive got it in for a service and once its back the staff say it will be in mint condition.

There's no rust anywhere it just needs a good clean and possibly new tyres which is getting sorted.

I don't know what to do with it as i'm tempted to start using it again when i get my new place as it will be kept in the garage, alternatively the shop staff reckon it might be worth selling as apparently they are quite sought after. Would anyone no what sort of value it would have?

Hi 80's - welcome to CC

I've moved your post into the general cycling forum to get some more eyes on it and hopefully a range of opinions/values.

Are you able to post any pictures? (if you need some technical help with posting them, you can always email them to me and I'll add them for you - webmaster ~@~ cyclechat.net).

Cheers,
Shaun

They just want to some bike porn , posting pictures of bikes here will make them all drool

Sounds a very nice bike and if it is mint you could get a tidy sum if you did decide to sell.On ebay you can get an idea by doing an advanced search for completed listing .

It probably appears old fashioned, the brakes don't work as well as modern bikes and the gears are non-indexed..........these are all things you can get used to. A bike like this is a bit like owning an old dog: useful still but needs a little extra cajoling at times. It's a classic bike, you either love it with all its short-comings or hate it for the same reason.
I suggest you give yourself a month or two of actually riding the bike regularly before you make the decision......ride a modern aluminium bike and compare......that's what I did.........now I have 2 classics bikes in my collection.....

You need to do a bit of research - take a look at this site and find what tubing you have.

The Campy gear will have some value but will take a lot of research - if you are selling I'd put it on eBay with as much info and as many pics as you can.
