I have a road bike with Easton Circuit wheels and 10 speed Ultegra cassette. I have bought some new wheels on Ebay (Easton 90 aero) and sort of assume the cassette would change straight over.

Two problems. On the old wheel there is a fine spacer which will not fit on the new one due to a little step in the splines. You can see this here http://cdn.mos.bikeradar.com/images...1229507093523-11juq5vblg472-500-90-500-70.jpg

The other problem is that when I fit the cassette (without the spacer) it seems that it will not fit snugly enough to screw in the lock ring (or even get it started)

Help and comments much appreciated!

I know this is not ideal but can you not fit the spacer the wrong side of the cassette? Your other option is to take your wheel & cassette to the LBS & see if there's anything they can do.

Purely guesswork, but Shimano did produce Dura-ace with aluminium freehub bodies that had deeper splines than normal, and matching 10 speed Dura-ace cassettes. This was because the steel sprockets would dig into the sides of the splines on a normal aluminium freehub, and make the cassette difficult to remove.

Could it be that your new wheel is a Dura-ace only model?
