Advice for a dented frame

Hi guys, looking at buying a used Specialized Hard Rock. The frame has a dent in it (see picture), and i'm wondering if this will affect the bike? Owner says it hasn't caused him any problems but I wouldn't mind your guys' opinion

That's a rather large dent. Frame could be out of alignment. Avoid

Go find another. There's no shortage of second hand Hardrocks that don't have knackered frames, so why knowingly buy a fubar'd one?

That is more than just a dent, that's a write off.

Describing that as a dent is like describing my hair as slightly thinning.

Maybe ask the vendor how the dent!, was caused - looks terminal to me

I'd say that bike was only worth anything as a donor....... No way would I ride it!

Bitter experience here - I bought a bike with a much less serious looking dent. Problem was that there was unseen damage elsewhere in the frame - and it broke. On York Road in Leeds. In rush hour. Not funny.

Avoid.

It's had some serious abuse and it looks like it's starting to crack around the weld. I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
