adjusting gears advice needed

I have recently upgraded my chain set when the new bits arrived I put it all on the bike and set the gears up. As I always do with new cables I stretched the cable a bit before fitting and everything was great nice smooth gear changes but then due to health and weather I've not been able to ride for a few weeks. Yesterday I went for a ride and its just not changing right and I'm struggling to get 1st gear so I'm guessing the cable has streched now my question is what's best do I undo the cable and start from the beginning or do I just adjust the tention with the adjuster what's the best way

Try adjusting it. If it only needs a minor twiddle, then all well and good. If it takes fistfuls of asjustment then undo the cable and set it up from scratch.

The answer is in your question. Adjust it with the adjuster.

as said above probably a slight turn of the barrel adjuster or if more fettling required have a look here
