ugh!

Following on from the CC ride to Llandudno and back I properly buggered (official medical term) my left knee to the point where it was impossible for me to even climb stairs. This happened about 10 miles away from the nearest train station so I pedalled all but 1 footed for that time - with 160 miles in the legs already!

Whilst I'm pleased to say the knee seems to be back to bounding up the stairs two at a time better, the ankle that took up the slack has started to sound like an old creaky door from a horror film! Both front and back. I've been off the bike for 8 days now and was wondering how long you might leave it until hopping back on? I'm conscious I don't want to miss "the season" but as much as anything my commute is costing me a bloody fortune now!

The pain has certainly subsided from the sharp pain I had a week ago to a sort of ache when I walk for more than a few minutes. Took ibuprofen for a few days but that stuff always seems to mess up my sleep so I'm off that now.

Something that will just pass with a little more time do we think?

Any and all input appreciated!

Try a regimen of ice pack followed by heat pack, 15 minutes of each a couple of times a day, see if that helps the healing. If oral ibuprofen messes you up, try a 10% gel rubbed in 3 times a day (or a voltaren / algesal variant)

Could try a neoprene ankle support too when walking?

Oh and rest until it's better

Gel seems like a good idea actually. I can actually push the swelling around a bit so perhaps a nice targeted action there will speed things up.

Thanks!
