I am wanting to buy a set of new lights for my bike.
At work I have access to an endless free supply of 9V/PP3 and AA batteries (all legit, don't worry.)
Now, most lights I am seeing use AAA, which isn't much use for me.
Any suggestions over what would options be good are appreciated.

Hope Vision 1 as a front light - no contest.

agree on the Hope
or this if on a budget

How about this for the rear? It does run on AA (not AAA as stated in that webpage). Comes with lots of different brackets
or a Cateye LD1100 ? more expensive, not as eyeball searingly bright as the various 1/2 watts, but has sideways pointing LEDs as well as rear facing.

If you've got silly money to spend, the Dinotte 200L is the bee's knees. Outstandingly good, but at a silly price because you have to import it from the US. A better choice might be the Busch & Muller Ixon IQ: it's as bright as the Hope but has a better beam shape so all the light is directed down onto the road where you want it. The major flaw is that it's a bit fragile - and make sure it's firmly clicked into its bracket, or it will fly off and break at the most inconvenient time (don't ask me how I know this!).

Edit: the Ixon IQ is cheaper if you import it from Germany.

I recently bought a 7 lux ultra light from Halfords (i bought the front light only) and it is brilliant. i wish now i'd gone the extra tenner and bought the 10 lux but even so, i went out on a night ride on Tuesday and the 7 lux was fine down dark country lanes. Even managed a 30mph downhill sprint and could see where i was going! takes AA batteries. Because of how bright it is, the battery life is not as good as my old Cateye one but the light is better, so i'm going to buy some rechargeable ones, but sounds like you won't have that problem.

and i have this rear light which also takes AA and its brilliant too.

I've just taken delivery of the Smart 35 lux light from Planet X.

It's marvelous, far better to ride with than my previous Tesco AA LED torch+lockblock.
