I just have a quick look at the car digital thermometer. It is pretty accurate and takes only seconds.

Wouldn't be without one now, we have a weather station with an outdoor sensor [in the shade] that gives us temp, pressure, humidity [very useful] radio controlled clock and even a weather forecast. Look out for them in Aldi, about £18 I recall, had ours years and like I said would be lost without it because we know exactly what to wear on the bike.They make great presents too.

Ours was a present too, sounds just like your one.

I put the outdoor sensor in the shade and with a little plastic roof over the top to shield it from the rain.

I just look at the frost on the window......

If it's on the inside then it's time for the full thermals.

if I don't put the guinea pigs out then a quick step out the front door tells me not only temperature but rain, sniff for rain and feel the wind, must take seconds

and I like to give a slightly eccentric appearance to the neighbours

I like to keep my neighbours guessing too! They're never quite sure which side of bonkers I'm on, makes 'em healthily wary!
