So I've got this Electra Cruiser...

But I hated the original crappy fork so I gave it away. The current suspension fork is a stopgap whilst I manufacture a new fork.

It's going to have a 27.5 (x 2.1) tyre up front whose outside diameter will match a fat 26 (2.5) on the rear.

I'm preparing the fork crown and drop outs prior to brazing.

The fork crown will be painted with the legs leaving the stainless dropouts in the metal. I've half polished one of them:

The trouble is, I'll be bolting a super fancy hand made fork into a Taiwanese gas pipe frame. So how to tweak the frame to make it more 'deserving'?

The rear dropouts are monstrous chunks of steel plate,

so I'm aiming to chop some material out of them..

I love the idea that there's a fantastic sculpture hidden within any block of marble and its the artist's job to dig it out. So which bits of the dropouts shall I lose? DSC_0281.JPG DSC_0285.JPG

I've tried to retain the Electra logo that's stamped into the dropouts, but if I give up on that I can reduce it to an absolute minimum...

Some very nice workmanship there, I would be concerned about weakening the dropouts too much by removing a lot of the steelwork (if it is indeed steel) Looking at the picture you have posted the dropouts look (to me) like some kind of plated or coated alloy as it looks very pitted.
