anyways, she took bike to Argos but they do not accept stuff in the stores (I was miffed as I drove!) but they did collect from work and gave full refund.
last w/e or w/e before I was dragged to look at bike advertised in paper - old biddy won a coca cola full sus bike, wanted £ 150 (1/2 price
- a glance of no more than twelve picoseconds showed it to be of same ilk - i.e. a P.o.S. I was polite and did felt sorry for the biddy 
but F.A use, business is business. She tried to get me to say what is wrong but that would have had me ranting!! and reduced the price too!!
Anyways, as I am sure most of you do too, regular glances on ebay has come up with one of these:
£ 550 RRP.
Was for sale locally, made offer and got it for around 1/2 price.
ali frame, reasonable spec. and hydraulic disc brakes too!!
hopefully she'll pick it up today so I can aHVE A LOOK see. oops, caps lock!
