Actually, one of the cool things about having moved here is the new bands/tunes I'm being introduced to. The French appear to have a much broader, albeit still rather conservative, popular music scene. There are many different styles/genres/call it what you will music on radio & tv. It's not all rap, hip hop, bpm & 'soul'. It's really refreshing. There's a bit of a French jazz style revival bubbling around (think Django Reinhardt) and I really like it. Artists like Thomas Dutronc are popular and becoming more so. (And, for that cycling link, Dutronc plays guitar on 'Les Triplettes de Belleville')
So it's not all Vanessa Paradis, Satcha Destell and Serge Gainsborough you know!!
