Here's an American tricycle version (1895) from a museum in Denmark

A lot more stable, I guess.

I was just looking at the picture and couldn't see a rear brake so I assume it must have been a fixed wheel. I found it fascinating to see it at the museum but my main reason for going was to see the World Land speed Record Holder Thrust SSC , next to it is the previous model Thrust 2.

You do remember correctly . If you zoom on the picture on the bottom left is a photo labeled 1900 Rudge Companion.

On a more general note, I would recommend a visit to this museum.
A good variety of "stuff" !!
