Hi to all viewing my 1st post.
The accompanying pictures are of my lugless Claud Butler frame with Norman forks, that I has been followed me each time I have moved house during the last 52 years (ie: it has been in my possession since 1960).
The frame number is in two blocks - 7742 & 5312.
Do these numbers have any significance?
Does 7742 mean it was assembled on 7th July 1942?
Does 5312 indicate that Reynolds 531 tubing was used?
Will I be able to sell it for enough to keep me in a care home soon for several years?
I hope some has the answers to these tantalising questions.

Cheers,

I bought it from a mate just as in photos. We had just returned from a cycle camping tour of N Wales. His Norman frame rear forks cracked up behind the saddle & the leather toe straps held it together for the next 10 days. He put the 2nd hand Norman's forks in it then. I met the 73 year old original owner of the Norman in the dentists yesterday. doesn't time fly!

I think you'd get more response if you posted a thread here.

PS I don't know what you did with the photos, but I can't enlarge them: they remain thumbnails.

Sorry about the photos. I joined Flickr and copied & pasted them on Cyclechat.
I'll have another go at loading larger views. Please bear with me.
