Hi All,

After a few weeks of riding my bike to lose some weight ( i have alot to shift ) i have picked up my first puncture !

With me currently being on 45c tyres would it be a good time to try a slightly thinner tyre as i mostly ride on roads and cycle paths. maybe a 35 ? Would I feel a difference being as heavy as i am ?

when it comes to pick a tube size do i just match with what my tyre size is ?

Thanks

with regards to tubes you usually get a range so they will say 19-25c for instance and they will fit any size within those, if you want to go a little quicker for the same effort opt for slimmer tyres with less tread

If thats only your first p'ture its a little premature to be thinking about new tyres; you will notice some performance change going a relatively large (10mm step), narrower tyres will roll better but will also offer a harsher ride.

When you do change tubes you will be looking for something like 700x28-38c (for 35cs) or 700x35-45c (for 45c), note the exact dimension range may be differrent, you just need one which cover your tyres.

I have 37c Maxxis Overdrives on my Marin hybrid and they roll quite well plus are comfortable. You should be able to use your existing tubes.

You would feel a difference, especially comfort wise. I went from 45c to 32c , yes it's quicker, but I value the extra comfort on very rutted paths. No harm trying out a,set so at least you can swap them out as and when required.

It's my first puncture on this bike. When I said a few weeks I meant this side of Christmas. I rode abit before the weather went horrible too. I'm impressed I've only just managed to puncture it given the poor thing carries my mass around

I just thought as I was going to a shop for tubes I could consider my options tyre wise.
