700x23 or 700x23c ??

Evening all, just a quickie from a newbie to the road bike thing but my new bike has 700x23c tryes, is it ok to fit 700x23 tryes and what does the c stand for ??
Any advice greatly recieved,

They're the same thing - c is just the unit of measurement.
