I got my first punture on my road bike at the weekend, i fixed the punture and got home fine but when i was fixing the puncture i noticed that my rear tyre is pretty chewed up, i think i may be a bit heavy on the back brake, i`ve only had the road bike since the first week in may and i`ve done roughly 1900 mile since the start of may and i`ve got a few question that may sound a bit stupid to the more experienced cyclists..

I need to get a 700x25c tyre, now do these 700x25c tyres all come as a standard size?

I have got a specialized secteur and the tyres below are what i think came standard with it

but i was thinking of getting these tyres, are they pretty much the same tyre?

The question "does 700x25 tyres all come in the same size" doesn't really make sense, as that IS the size! It's a bit like asking if you buy multiple six foot lengths of different types of wood, are they all six foot long  The answer for you is 'yes'

700c refers to the size of your wheel, and is standard for road bikes. 25 is the width of your tyre in mm. You will always need 700c tyres, but you can play about with your widths a little - thinner offers less rolling resistance and so can be faster, whilst wider tyres add a little more comfort.

The Gatorskins you've selected, in either size of 23 or 25 will be fine.

Stock tyres are usually quite basic tb, I would imagine they are the All Condition rather than the Armadillo version that are much tougher(and more expensive)
Depending on your intended use ie commuting/leisure/racing, you can use any 25 or 23 tyre, I swapped mine for Conti 4 seasons which are light and grippy, now though I have settled on the Schwalbe durano+ as it's mainly used for commuting duties and the extra protection is most welcome

The Secteur does come with the All Conditions, I think, and I've just this morning picked up a pair of the Conti 4 Seasons to replace them as my LBS didn't have the Durano Plus in stock and I couldn't be bothered to wait until next Weds for them to come in. :giggle:
