700 x 20C ROAD TYRES (UP TO £20)

Hi

I've just got my old bike out of the shed (Raleigh Equippe) and see that I need some new tyres. may as well get some tubes too.

Seeing a fair num,ber of the big cycling stores offer free delivery, coupled tom the fact that there's no proper cycle shop nearby, I'll just order on line.

Any recommendations for good tyres, for road cycling only

CycleSports have Vittoria Rubino Kevlar tyres at £12.49
Chain Reaction have Schwalbe Lugano tyres at £12.99

How good are these ??

Or are there better products out there

I don't really want to spend more than £20 per tyre ... after all I'm not a professional cyclist

Any advice would be appreciated.

Any particular reason you want 20s? 23s are comfier and easier to get. Possibly faster too unless you ride on very smooth surfaces.

Both are going to be OK at the price, not mind-bending, but OK. My real comment is that 20c are really out of vogue these days, unless you have aerodynamic rims and you're going to be riding over 20mph regularly on smooth tarmac. Better to go for 23c size which will roll better over everyday roads with a better degree of comfort.

Not a fan of 20mm clinchers - I've had a couple of Conti GP4000 700x20 and the sidewalls degrade much faster. Ride wasn't too comfortable either.

Oh yes, they're horrible to put on as well.

Me too.

The Luganos or Rubinos are a better bet.

I eventually picked red and black Vittoria Rubino tyres from Wiggle.
