what cycling fans think...7 or not 7...with Lance or not ?
Still didn't realize what happen, just see that this is very bad for cycling credibility, I see there is already lot long and confusional thread about it, so I write not any comment about it...
I see some person blame it and some still like it...so just:

yes or not ?

Many cycling fans and many casual readers of stats thought from way before the LA era that some (many?) top riders were using what they oughtn't.

A huge number are not surprised by recent revelations.

I think what does surprise (and sadden) some is the sort of Faustian (in the final-scene sense) absoluteness of the feeding frenzy around LA.

I suspect the correct answer is zero, but those summers when he won it cannot be erased from the memory. In our minds, he will always have won it in a way, but there will be more than just the original whiff of smoke to the suspicion that he cheated.

Many will continue to laud those who stood beside him on the podium as somehow clean or 'less tainted'.

Mankind is a funny lot.

I do not know whether the current crop are clean. There is more money in developing products that fool testers than in developing good tests.

Look at the sincerity of the anger of Brad whan asked about cheating. Compare and contrast with the same responses by Tyler, Lance, Virenque et all in years gone by.

I'm just saying....

Lovely sport though... Beautiful, brutal, fast, skilled.... Lovely.

His "wins" are erased. He beat other people who have also fallen foul of the controls. The fact is they had their publicity for their sponsors, stood on the podium. The same sponsors who are now looking to get their money back (USPS for example). It's an interesting issue, the sponsors had their value, were happy to accept the benefits, and should they actually be repaid?
All that has been removed is something written down. There should be no winners recorded.

The sponsors may have had some benefits at the time, but they have also been very seriously damaged in terms of their reputation subsequently
