6sp Chain

I've agreed to give my mum's bike a service and it's going to need a new chain. It is a 6sp Shimano SIS from about 15-20 years ago. What chain can I use? Is a 6sp the same size as an 8sp, so I can use a KMC 8sp with quicklink?

Any advice appreciated

I use a KMC 8 speed chain on my 6 speed Raleigh, so yes.

I've always thought 6, 7 & 8 (possibly 5 too) are identical. Happy to be corrected though

Should work, it says on the box suitable for 6/7/8 speed
Works with my 5 speed also
