ive got a 6061 frame hanging in the shed and its taunting me to build a road tourer out of it ,
my main question is which forks it originally had rst shocks fitted its an old mtb frame btw ,
ive seen lots online and think measuring is my only concern but that sounds too simple ?

id appreciate any advice on parts especially gears but all advice gratefully received ,
hell a shopping list would be amazing :biggrin:

Obviously don't know the frame in question... but an MTB frame may not be the ideal starting point for a road tourer.
But I'd suggest if you do go for it then think about steel or carbon forks rather than aluminium.
Also make sure you understand what sort/dia. of headset the frame is set up for?

you'd best find an lbs that deals with bikes of all sorts. mine had a s/h steel muddy fox fork to replace the abortion of a suspension fork on her halfords atb which he fitted for a tenner.

he reckons he has loads of mtb solid forks as a result of people 'upgrading' to sussers.
