Had my bike for about 6 weeks now and we have done about 350 miles so far. It is due its free service, it is behaving well, noticed a couple of gear slips but thats about it, nothing that a bit of a gearing clean up should sort out. So question is, do I take it in or is it not worth the stress of them bodging it up. It came from Sigma in Kingston upon Thames so I wouldnt be like giving it to a school leaver to look at. Thoughts?

Does the warranty cover depend on it being checked. I'd take it in (although Sigma do have some young staff)

Depends on the warranty first and your trust in the shop second. No service may well mean no warranty and to be fair young doesn't always mean useless. Take it in - you can always go back all guns blazing but if you don't take it in and something goes wrong YOU are really the one going begging.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I agree with everyone else. If it's part of the warranty then take it in, and tell them about the slipping gears

Take it in, the slipping gears are probably caused by cable stretch. This is the sort of thing the first service sorts out

I had some fairly big issues with my rear wheel going well out of true and went to the bike shop twice, once to sort the wheel and again to have the 6 week check.

You'd be crazy not to take it back, even for the peace of mind that it's been looked at by someone qualified.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
If you're not confident in your own abilities to look after the bike - and if you haven't sorted the indexing I suspect you aren't - take the bike in.
