Hi everyone, thought I would update my newbie progress. 1st December I got my Spesh sirrus through cycleshceme with the promise to wifey I would cycle to work to save fuel costs. This morning after getting home I just pipped the 500 miles mark and 5.5lbs lighter (am still eating what I please). My commute is 20 miles round trip and I have seen my average speed creep up, also with the new forest and two beaches a stones throw away its nice to get in some scenery on my days off.
I have slowly been gathering up the never ending cycling kit with several moans from wifey (what are you buying now? / why do you need that? / You just bought that, why are you selling it?) It has been a big learning curve with a few live and learn situations.
I have been given the go ahead now for a new bike when I have made my final payment on my hybrid, I have been looking at road bikes with the sportive geometry but will wait for the 2014 models to be released.

Great to hear its going well - i always make the point of ensuring the other half knows how much ive saved on travelling costs so i have an excuse to buy more cycling gear

Well done for keeping going, many give up after a few weeks, and the bike then stays in the shed or garage collecting dust.
I've been cycling myself since last august, and its amazing what you buy for the bike and yourself, thinking you need everything in the shop;)

I will use both bikes (road bike and mtb)until next year, then look for a couple of new ones, with better specifications.
