Complete text from last years challenge: (Can this be 'a thing' again this year? I would love to have a crack at it.)

@Cathryn suggested this; it's a brilliant idea and I think I'm going for it.

As I interpret this, my challenge is to visit a different cafe during each week of 2022 by bike, and to post a photo of my bike outside. By the end of the year I should have visited 52 different cafes.

This appeals to me for obvious, and less obvious reasons.

The obvious ones are food and drink, obviously.

I will have to get out to places I know less well, will have to do some planning bearing in mind the seasons and expected weather. It will get me out of my current rut.

Edit: the concensus is that only one of each chain (eg Greggs) is allowed in the year.

Does this appeal to you?

Nice idea - it got me out and about in 2022. Now time to stretch the legs a bit; visit a few of the regular/nice ones and a load of new ones that I never got to last year.

We all know where last years good cafes are, why not search out new ones. Now that would be some challenge especially for the ones who managed to complete the 2022 challenge.😲 As they say if its easy its not worth doing.

I'm so glad you think it's a fun idea. I did it last year and loved it. I visited loads of new cafes, it gave my rides (and hikes, runs and general shenanigans) some purpose and goals. I may not aim for 52 new ones this year as that's a lot but I'm keen to try and get 26 (one every fortnight) instead. That feels more manageable.

This is the only NY Resolution I've ever kept in my whole life!

Ok, cafe number one on the horizon for tomorrow and it's going to be Fortes, near Bracelet Bay near the Mumbles for me.

I thought it was restricted to the independent food/coffee places . The little independent places are always better, some may be dearer but sometimes its worth it for quality food and service.😄

First café visit today, different to planned but the rain was atrocious: Ribbles of Holmfirth

Second time here and the service was excellent again. We were provided towels to dry off with, very quick service and always friendly. If you're visiting Holmfirth and don't want to go to Sid's I'd absolutely recommend a visit here.

There was a group photo, but this was just my order - coffee x 2, cake, sausage sandwich for £13.45 as we were there an hour drying off with other riders from the group ride coming in afterwards. There'd been mechanicals, punctures and it got bad enough that those who could keep riding were sent off.

Failed at the first hurdle, where is the photo of the bike? 😲

Café 2: The Sunflower Pot, Liversedge

No photo as the weather turned (I'll get one next time) but the usual friendly welcome. It's on the Spen Valley Greenway and is mid-way between the top and bottom.

My usual sausage/tomato sandwich and a coffee for £5.50.

Edited:

Coffee and a flapjack for £4.20 today

Café 3: Cloggs, Dewsbury

A new one, very local to me and unplanned. I got caught out as the weather changed so needed an 'emergency' stop. Coffee and a fruit scone for £5.80. Friendly service as well although they thought I was daft being out in the cold and rain.
