50 m with a stop or 35 in one go?

Hi I am getting ready to ramp up my training rides and wondering which is a better approach for me as a beginner.
Going for a longer run say 50 miles with a small stop or a good 35 miles with no stop.
Instinct suggests getting the miles in but not sure if this is the right approach.
Many thanks.

It depends on the ride really, I can do a 35 which is much more difficult than some 50's I have done and probably benefit more from it. But if it's over the same sort of terrain the 50 as it will build up endurance, even if you do stop you still have to do the extra work.

I say let your body tell you when to stop, as Nigel has said it depends on the ride, the terrain, and the weather. On the flat you could cruise along for 50 miles or more and not need a stop, another ride depending how lumpy it is you might be falling apart after 20 miles.

Depends what your goals are. If you want to get the heart rate going then a faster 35 would be more beneficial but if you want to build a bit more stamina then maybe the 50 but be careful not to coast the 50 as the miles may end up not benefitting you which is why I don't do club rides during the summer as a slow 50 won't benefit me as it would be too easy.
