I'm gobsmacked.

Some people have too much time on their hands.

My method of acquiring mudguards is to go to a bicycle shop and exchange some Coin of the Realm for a pair of mudguards made by a manufacturer of mudguards in a mudguard factory.
This method also works for shoes, trousers, underpants, bread rolls, beer, lightbulbs, washing-up liquid, hose, peas and fork-handles.

Some people like to make stuff. Happens in all sorts of places for all sorts of things.

I have lots of money but sometines I like to make things too.

The subtitle of that article should be: "Or how to turn your bike into a BSO".
Some homemade fenders are nicer than the bicycles they are applied to. BSO's have few such personal touches.

Agreed, I was just being humorous. The bike could end up looking like a Frankenbike or something of beauty, depending on the DYI effort.
Mine would probably be more Frankenbike-looking rather than thing of beauty. We could have a CycleChat Fender Challenge. That always seems to bring out the best artisanship in everyone.
