You will need to know the size of the clamp on your stem , usually either 31.8 or 26mm.

Are uou sure 48 is correct thats mighty wide im very broad and ive just gone to 46 and they are too wide

46cm bars will measure around 48cm on the outside as the sizing is done centre tube to centre tube btw

Or get a Bike Fit one from someone who uses one of the alternative systems and recommends narrower bars.
In the same height to the cm, weight to the kg, and chest size to the inch as Dallaglio and do very nicely on 44s.

What do you have at the moment? If a standard 42cm, a 46cm will feel rather bigger
This comes in a 47cm, but I'm going to guess that a) they measure differently given it's an odd number and b) you don't want to spend £150

I would think a 48 cms 'bar would make for difficult handling regardless of the size of the rider.
