Went out for my first long distance/club ride with the lovely people from Anerley Cycle Club today (found them on here). 36 miles from home to Purley, through some very nice Surrey countryside (incl a ******* of a hill at Chipstead) to Dorking then back to Tadworth via Box Hill (!)

Currently absolutely shattered: surprised I'm still here! But smiling.

Many thanks to them all

I quite like Portnalls... had a bit of a crack at it a few weeks ago on a Sunday morning, with a slight tailwind. Although doing it in the dark is quite nice because you don't realise what's coming!

Never watched xfactor anyway  Tho I'm sure some do both & good luck to em!

Not sure what hill it was. Looking at google streetview, it might have been How Lane.

Purley. Slightly different places alternate weeks (Tesco for routes SW; and Shurgard for routes SE).

Very good. I thought How Ln sounded familiar, did it on a long ride the other Saturday. Not too bad but does kick up in the middle  http://app.strava.com/segments/658536

Our club cycle back via Box hill, along a similar route to the one you mentioned, close to Tadworth, along the Dorking Rd, Kingswood, Chipstead > Coulsden. It's a nice and usually quite brisk ride along that route (prevailing tailwind helps).
