What a day. First #1 was to go undercrackerless in my bibs - and I liked it.
First #2 was to use a*se butter - and I liked it.
First #3....................................................., and finally, after so many close calls and 9 months of cycling I DID 50 BL**DY MILES. Oh how I liked that. Took in a few steep (for Essex) climbs as well, one going up into the Langdon hills was a killer but I stayed on and toughed it out. Treated myself to a banana at the top.
All the drivers I met were courteous, every cyclist I passed said hi. (well, when I say passed I mean in the opposite direction. At my average speed ya don't catch folks up). There was about 3 miles on dirty filthy paths and farm tracks inches deep in mud. Could have gone around that section, no chance, that's why I bought a Cross Check. It just blitzed it and since I upgraded my canti's it even stopped in the slime and crud. Oh how I Iove this bike.
Anyway washed the bike down and will wipe a bit of oil around once she's dried off.
One word of caution. If using ar*s butter for the first time make sure (for the fellas) you don't get any on the old middle stump. think I must have accidentally because when I stopped for a tinkle, I couldn't control it. it was like wrestling apython maggott* (*edited by Mrs Silly-reason, inaccuracy).
Thanks dear! Anyway, that's all. I finally did it. Next up, 60 miles (but not tomorrow).
