2nd hand cross bikes

looking for primarily a commuter bike( includes some off road, gravel loose rock trail)and also might try some cyclo cross racing (if i continue losing weight at the rate i am because of my cycle commuting)

was wondering any places that sell 2nd hand cross bikes? already on ebay with plenty of saved searches. Budget is fairly limited, thats why looking 2nd hand, £500 or would building a bike from scratch be cheaper, limited knowledge but presume best way to educate myself.

eBay might take time, search for frames as well as bikes if you haven't been already.

For a new (budget) cross bike try Paul Milnes perhaps? The website is (or was) terribly out of date- try calling.

I bought a cross frame on here, built up it cost about £500 (all new parts). I could've, in hindsight, done it cheaper. And If i'd transferred wheels and parts from an old roadbike I could've done it much cheaper. Depends what parts you already have.

thanks, have seen a couple of paul milne bikes on ebay, but will give them a bit of a closer look, got a half decent commuter bike at moment so dont need to rush.

Got a 56cm Ridley Crossbow (?) frame with Zornyc forks FOR SALE. Would suit someone over 6 foot tall.

I say ? because the tubing is Easton Utlralight which I believe is on the next model up. It's badged as a 'Hargroves' Ridley as it was a team bike. A few cross induced paint scratches but only cosmetic.

I ride a 56cm cannondale cyclocross bike and I'm 5 foot 11.

except I've changed the cross tyres for Marathon Plus 32c for commuting.

Pm me if it's of any interest. Bought last year for £1200 (from Evans) plus the cost of the tyres, so I'll be looking for a bit more than £500. Worth it though, it's a very nice all round bike.
