Noticed my cycle comp rolled over 1000 miles this morning!

technically it should have done so before now, rain has a rather adverse effect on it, gets between it and the contacts and stops registering.
but its official, had the bike since the beginning of june, commuting mostly with some outings here and there.
i'm about to up my commute distance to 9 miles each way instead of 5 (18 a day) so that should help and i really need to work on getting myself to doing 100 miles in a day, before that however i need a new seat ;)

I hope it's not a cheapo like mine as I lost all my recorded miles when I had to change the battery, it went all the way back to 00000.

actually not all that bad tbh, its just hte connectors don't like rain hehe

next comp will be a proper cateye tho, wired, none of this wireless interference and 76mph business.

It's great when a big number turns over, isn't it? Congratulations!

I keep a spreadsheet up to date in case my current computer decides to jump under the wheels of an artic like the last one did. There's also a cyclechat log on mycyclinglog.com which also might help you keep track of your mileage.

+1 for a smear of something on your contacts. I use Speedplay pedal grease, sounds exotic but it's just because I always have it in, so it's always handy and it's clear as opposed to grease coloured, (I know, so is Vaseline ).

My Aldi bikemate (or is that lidl) was almost faultless until last week now intermittently when you are cruising along at say 17mph and nothing changes for some reason it'll momentarily read 9mph and then back to 17mph, it seems to be losing about one or two miles on a 10 mile journey. I suspect it may be due to SMIDSY taking me out last Thu and it going flying.

My Aldi/Lidl (pro cycle?) computer did exactly the same thing. Worked fine for a while, then without any reason the speed started playing up, and a regular 10 mile ride started being recorded as 8 or 9 miles. I gave all the bits a clean, inserted a new battery, but it was still the same. I've now bought a Sigma from Decathlon, so we'll see if the extra cost makes it more durable or not.

I've yet to keep a tally of a full years mileage. I lost the details when my wired Cateye stopped working completely, then cyclogs went offline, so I'm now onto mycyclinglog, plus a text document of the monthly totals in case of any more failures!

I've had several cheap computers that gave me nothing but grief. They kept letting me down on rides that were important to me. In fact I've still got a brand new unopened Aldi one with heart rate monitor from earlier this year.

I bought a Garmin 500 in early August and have never looked back. I don't have the cadence monitor, but it seems to work quite well without it.

I've just checked on Garmin Connect and I've done 935 miles since then - so heading for my own 1000.
