Looking for some advice on ze big MTB tyres, intended use is road, path, trail, XC but nothing too severe and they will be on a fully rigid XC 29er, clearance to about 2.2".
I'd like something that's a bit of an allrounder and has some level of puncture protection. I'm not especially concerned about weight, I'm used to nearly 1kg per tyre with my 700x35 M+. The Schwalbe offerings seem to be trez expensive and I was thinking Continental SpeedKing or MTB King, in the 2" size, but they seem to be out of stock right now. WTB caught my eye as well but I don't know much about them and I don't know anything about treads and compounds on these tyres.
Was sort of hoping to go no more than £30 per tyre but I don't want to be so fixed to that I end up with a tyre that gets endless punctures or isn't fit for purpose. These will be run with Schwalbe standard 29er tubes on Mavic TN719 rims.
I'm also not averse to the idea of two sets of tyres, maybe the Schwalbe Big Apples for road/path orientated riding and something knobblier for the rest. But I would rather I had an allrounder. I can reach a lot of trails by bike around here, maybe I could just have higher pressure on the way and let a bit of air out at the trail?
As always all info gratefully accepted
