26x1.75 tyres for road use?

Can anyone recommend a decent 26x1.75 tyre for putting on an occasional off road MTB?
Just got back on mine after repairing a long term (read too lazy to fix....) puncture and after using my road bike since not using the MTB and can't believe how much more resistance there is - literally like pedalling with the brakes on!
Have currently pumped them up so they're rock hard...

Have a look at Schwalbe Landcruisers. They have a flat central ridge and knobbly off centre section. I got some for MTB and I find they roll OK with p******e protection too.

In 1.85" will be a lot better on road for occasional off road,
The LC's are great for for mixed use, but not mainly on road,
and mainly on road the City will go better, last loads longer.

If you fit something with a fine tread pattern (more a texture than a tread) you'll find them good enough on tarmac and for most off road riding too. You only need those big knobblies in mud.
