I want to change the wheel on my bike, but struggling to find one with the dynamo on the hub (front wheel) going to attempt respoking a new one, but finding it hard to find one of those either, with 36 spokes... anybody point me in the right direction.

John at Bob Warner cycles would be my port of call in Leicester, he'll have things in stock that no other bike shop in Leicester has, he's also a top wheelbuilder and remarkably inexpensive.

Bobby Stevens at Spa Cycles is also a good point of contact. He built me a 36 hole H Plus Son Archetype (700c) with a dynamo hub.

My tourer and cargo bike both have 36 hole rims in 26" flavour. Alex Adventure. I see Surly now sell their complete DT with Alex DH19s. Not sure what the difference is.

Are you looking for a 36 hole dynamo hub or rims? Or both? I can't quite work it out.

Best of luck with the hunt.

I've already got the dynamo hub, just need the rim

Remember him from years ago,... never thought that he would still be going, when all the other bike shops have closed around Leicester over the years

Wrong size 26" rim, easy mistake to make though when there are 6 different sizes all called 26"

He's well over retirement age but still going strong, the last pair of wheels he did for me was the conversion of my 26 x 1 3/8 steel wheels to 700c Aluminium on the old Raleigh 3spd SA hubgear bike (the 700c rim is slightly bigger but not as large as a 27" despite being confusingly badged as 28")

The fractionally bigger rims not only fit the frame nicely but allowed me to fit better brakes than the twisted steel originals and a much improved tyre choice. You're more than welcome to have a look at the bike, I live up on the edge of Glenfield.

EDIT - 700c front wheel with 28mm tyre on a Raleigh 26 x 1 3/8" bike showing tyre clearance and new (old) Weinmann 500 brake caliper.
