Does this route include a ride up Dowdeswell (turn right at the reservoir as you leave Cheltenham)?
There's a AUK Midlands Mesh string between Stow on the Wold and Bishops Cleeve. Anyone with some sense in their head goes round with the Glos Warks railway through Gretton and Toddington.

and anyway, that's just 1 climb. A beast I grant you, but 1 all the same.
Yes, but it can be ridden as a circuit. There are three to choose from so why not climb each 3 times and make it an even dozen?

A lot of up and down (click on the elevation profile) and 935m of ascent ain't bad.
Sadly not 11 climbs though. Two of the shorter pitches are just sub-climbs really.
