Hi

It's about time I replaced my headset and I'm just getting a bit confused about exact specs. I know it's an integrated headset 1 1/8" but I can see that there are then different bearing sizes (42mm, 35mm etc). Anyone know what's the full spec I need to look for?

This is one in particular I was looking at:

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/cane-creek-40-series-is-integrated-headset/

And that's 42mm. Don't want to spend a lot as the stock one seemed OK for the first 4000 miles just feels like the bearings are finally going.

Thanks

When my 2010 secteur elite needed doing I just took it to the local specialized concept store and they had them in stock and did it there and then for me, I cant remember how much it was but it was around £20 somewhere.

I was thinking I'd upgrade slightly though, also quite like doing things myself where possible :-) The actual fitting is dead easy, they literally just sit in the top/bottom, just want to make sure I buy the right one lol :-)

I know what you mean but getting the spec for the right one was the problem, in the end I gave up it was just too much hassle.

Bitten the bullet and ordered this one:

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/fsa-orbit-ce-black-1-18-integrated-aheadset/

Only £25 and seems to get decent reviews. FSA so will match my stem as well and that's the most important thing really!
You might need a headset spacer, from what I have read when people installed a different make they have needed one.
